Taking the plunge

The hubs and I have been talking about redoing our bathroom for some time, as it is the ONLY room in the house that we haven't worked on since we moved in.  We have a few ideas for this little jewel it just depends on what kind of mood were in how much of it we actually try.  Here are some before pics just to give you a bit of reference before we get started.

Here are a few shots were using for inspiration.

We have sort of a white, cream, taupe, steel grey/blue thing going on and we want to incorporate that a bit into the cabinets and wall color.  I have a sea blue already purchased for the wall paint (same we used in the closet and linen closet turned open shelving that I think accents everything perfectly.  The question is what to paint our cabinets (if we keep them) and if we don't what to use in their place.  SO many decisions.   ohhh the possibilities.

PS.  I ordered the crochet shorts because I
found out I can return them in the store if they
don't meet my expectations.. YAY!

mud rooms

Confession:  I have an obsession with organization, and if it involves hooks, cubbyholes, and a chandelier. I'M IN LOVE.  I found a few images of what I think would be a small enough to function but large enough to get the job done.  These are great for inspiration but I'm not sure any of them just quite right.  I would take a piece of each and make on amazing mudroom.

The chandelier.

The cubbyholes/shelf.
The ladder.
The dog bed for cold nights.

The peg boards, for adjustable organization.

Put it all together = mudroom perfection.

The Sketchbook Project: 2011

Partay Partay!

In the spirit of January and New Years Resolutions I have been trying to get organized.  It all started with a little Jonathan Adler desk calendar that is categorized in just the right way, and is spiral bound so it lays flat... LOVE IT!

After getting my loverly little calendar I started filling it out with all my upcoming events and to my shock and amazement, I'm pretty much booked up on the weekends until August.  Seriously, August.

That led to me looking for some fun little party dresses for all these events coming up... CANT WAIT!  (In particular I have 2 Weddings and a baby shower) WAHOOO!

Now I'm ready for warmer weather and lighter colors.  Come on SPRING!

Golden Globes Re-Cap

So, I love an awards show as much as the next girl but this seemed to be a little ho-hum, no?  I just didn't get some of the dress choices and some of them were so safe that it was sad.  Take a risk but you don't have to show up looking like Bride of Frankenstein (Scarlett Jo, I'm talking to you!).

Que Drum roll... Here are my TOP 3 (In no particular order)

I love all three for different reasons.  I think Emma Stone looked age appropriate and fresh in the blush color of her Calvin Klein dress.  Nothing says, "You cheated on me and I look awesome" more than this dress Eva Longoria is wearing and last but not least, Natalie Portman and her baby bump look precious.

Changes

In the beginning of a new year most people make resolutions, this year I have decided to not make a resolution but a commitment to myself.  I want to be genuinely happy in everything that I do.  If it doesn't give me joy, I wont participate.

Now yes, there are some necessary evils, such as laundry but, you do not have to let them control your life.  At this point in my life I can still make mistakes and blame them on my youth, but I want to strive to make the best decisions for myself and my husband.

I'm not much one for quirky quotes or words printed on everything. (I barely even wear clothing with words printed on them, with the exception of my, ahem, National Championship winning Auburn Tigers)

This quote struck a cord with me, and hopefully will bring you some form of an emotion, because it evokes so many. The emotion that I feel when I read it is a swift kick in the rear to get up and start doing things I love, whatever they may be.

My Dream Closet

There is one thing that I can say every girl dreams of, a beautiful closet.  A closet is living and breathing animal closet that requires a little bit of effort to maintain.  I'm still hoping for that magic elf that follows behind and magically folds/organizes/color codes everything I own automatically.   While I am waiting on that little wish to come true, I can bide my time with these jewels. There is something special about each one.

Color Coded addict.  Admitted.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a compartment for everything?

Or a nice patterned wallpaper to make it more of a dressing room?

That shoe storage?  I die.

No words, not one.

Helloooo purse compartments.

An island in my closet, don't mind if I do.

I'm swooning over that pattern on the pocket door. Hello.

This is much more practical but still absolutly fabulous.

Last but not least, Christina Aguilera.  This closet rocks my world, right down to the leopard carpet.

Carmen's Shelf Collage

Carmen Shelf Collage

After a holiday trip to Nashville, TN and one awesome shopping day later.  My SIL got some inspiration from a wonderful restaurant in Franklin.  We have begun the search for interesting things to crate a collage/photo wall in her living room that combines some layer of photos, candles for warmth, mirrors for sparkle, and maybe some old windows with chippy paint that make my heart go pitter patter.

Snow Day

Happy Snow Day!  There is nothing better than a snow day when you are a child, unless your an adult and it provides and extra day to an already wonderful weekend.  On this extended weekend I'm finishing a few projects, making some serendipity hot chocolate, taking a walk with the Husband and pups, and all around enjoying every stolen minute of this day.

Here's a beautiful stolen shot of what our walk looked like this morning.  It always amazes me how beautiful everything is covered in snow.

On a side note, I am almost giddy with the idea of my Alma Mater being National Champions.  We have a pot of Husbands famous chili on the stove and ingredients for snow cream ready to go.  Its going to be a wonderful, WAR EAGLE, night!

Casual Friday

Friday, Oh how I have missed you

I could not be more excited about the prospect of what this weekend holds.  The hubs and I are going to go to dinner tonight with my bestie and while he's off doing his thing tomorrow, I am going to be doing one of my favorite things, DIY!(pics to come)  I have this little linen closet in our bathroom(the only room in the house that has not been redone) that I am going to turn into open shelving to eliminate back to back doors.  Hello brilliant idea!

Although, there is supposed to be severe weather this weekend, and in Alabama that means the world shuts down and you go buy bread and milk immediately.  Normally this would be music to my ears due to my homebodyness.  BUT, in case you haven't heard, this weekend THE AUBURN TIGERS are playing for the National Championship and I can't miss it due to a small power outage.  Seriously considering stealing a generator from Pops. As a side note, this is where I met the one and only, so its very important that we get to enjoy every single second of the game and cheer on our Auburn Tigers.

Anyway, thats all for now, stay tuned for my Friday Special Somthin-Somthin! (hint: it has to do with my outfit today)

On a side note:  Im having a small obcession over crochet shorts.  I know, I know granny right?  But, I saw a pair at a great shop called dejavu in Seasdie, FL last summer when I was on vacay with my Mom and SIL.(more on them to come)  I decided not to get them and didnt end up full on obcessing until I saw this little picture right here.   This is Kate Hudson in her role for the upcoming book turned movie "Something Borrowed"

The search is on in full force. So far, these are the only ones I have found that are even close to what I am thinking.  Not to bad, right?  A little bit like an adult skort but I will take it, now to find them to try on.
